Our facility in Iggensbach is located directly on the A3 motorway – it is our headquarters and the central hub of all activities related to intelligent industrial energy storage solutions.
In this state-of-the-art facility, more than 24,000 m² are dedicated to the production of high-performance large-scale storage systems – built using new but obsolete EV batteries from renowned automotive manufacturers.
Not only is it the production site for our industrial storage systems: Our sales, development, and product management teams for industrial storage also work closely together at this location – enabling innovative solutions with maximum energy efficiency and future potential. The modern event spaces are used for both internal and external events.

The FENECON CarBatteryReFactory in Iggensbach – funded by the EU Innovation Fund and Bayern Investment Promotion!
On March 27, 2024, the FENECON CarBatteryReFactory was officially inaugurated. Numerous distinguished guests from politics, business, and science attended the opening of this specialized production site for energy storage systems.
The CarBatteryReFactory will create around 100 permanent new jobs in the region.

“We are very pleased about the tremendous interest in our CarBatteryReFactory and thank all guests for their support. For us as a company, the opening represents an important milestone. The market for large-scale storage in commercial and industrial applications, as well as for solar and charging parks, is currently growing very dynamically. The significant expansion of production capacity for our award-winning FENECON Industrial series comes at exactly the right time and enables us to offer highly competitive pricing.” – Franz-Josef Feilmeier, Founder & CEO

Impressions from the Facility – March 2024
The 24,000 square meter FENECON site on the A3 motorway, featuring modern production and storage halls, development laboratories, and offices, has successfully gone into operation. Production processes have now been scaled to serial volume:
The home storage production line has been running since January, and large-scale manufacturing of the FENECON Industrial models followed in February. The commercial and industrial storage units with capacities from 82 kWh up to 1,288 kWh currently use exclusively new EV batteries from premium automotive manufacturers.
All three FENECON storage platforms take full advantage of these batteries — including high product quality and long cycle life, excellent efficiency, ease of transport, and liquid-based thermal management.

Modern and Sustainable Energy Concept
Not only the products manufactured in Iggensbach contribute to the 100% energy transition — the CarBatteryReFactory itself generates most of its energy renewably.
FENECON uses extensive roof and façade surfaces for optimal year-round solar power generation:
- The rooftop PV installation consists of nearly 800 modules producing 307 kWp.
- Around 550 façade PV modules provide an additional 204 kWp. All PV modules, inverters, and the façade mounting systems are sourced from German manufacturers.
Two heat pumps supply 250 kW of heating power and can also operate in cooling mode during summer. Two onsite FENECON Industrial M systems support the facility’s operations with stored energy — preventing grid expansion needs and providing peak shaving. Combined, the two systems supply 352 kW of power and 656 kWh of capacity.
All 29 parking spaces in the onsite charging park will be equipped with EV charging stations. The company fleet is fully electric.

Political Visit During the Final Construction Phase
Shortly before the facility was occupied, Bavaria’s Minister of Housing, Building and Transport, Christian Bernreiter (CSU), visited the new FENECON production site on December 1, 2023.
Also in attendance at the modern facility in Iggensbach were Wolfgang Haider, the mayor of Iggensbach (UBL), and CSU state parliament members Stefan Meyer and Josef Heisl.
FENECON founder and CEO Franz-Josef Feilmeier explained the plans for the new site in detail to the political guests. Minister Christian Bernreiter expressed his enthusiasm about the developments in Iggensbach.
The new factory will soon produce innovations for the energy transition – energy storage systems for home, commercial, and industrial applications.

Construction Near Completion: Move-In at the Turn of 2023/24
Perfectly on schedule: After just over a year of construction, the new FENECON site is nearly complete as of early December. By the end of the month, usage approval will be submitted and the building will be largely occupied.Production will begin in early 2024.
The vertical photovoltaic façade is almost fully installed. Drywall, technical systems, interior construction, and the two-story office section have been completed.
The FENECON team looks forward to the start of this sustainable project — funded by the EU Innovation Fund and Bayern Investment Promotion — dedicated to the production of energy storage systems built from EV batteries.

FENECON Celebrates Topping-Out Ceremony
Great excitement about construction progress: FENECON celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the CarBatteryReFactory in June 2023 in Iggensbach, Deggendorf district. At this site, the new factory for industrial energy storage systems made from EV batteries is being built. Production is scheduled to start at the end of the year. After on-schedule progress and completion of earthworks, drainage, concrete structures, and installation of prefabricated components, FENECON celebrated the topping-out ceremony together with all involved construction firms and project teams.
“Long live the builders who have given their strength to this construction.” – from the traditional topping-out speech.

Groundbreaking for a Climate-Friendly Future
In Iggensbach, Lower Bavaria, the CarBatteryReFactory is being constructed — funded with €4.5 million from the EU Innovation Fund, which supports highly sustainable and climate-friendly projects. FENECON also received €1.7 million from Bayern Investment Promotion for building the energy storage factory. From the end of 2023, industrial storage systems made from EV batteries will be produced at the new site. FENECON has been manufacturing large container-based storage systems from EV batteries since 2017. Small-series production currently takes place in Künzing; industrial-scale production will shift to the CarBatteryReFactory in Iggensbach. In November 2022, the official groundbreaking ceremony and a community information evening were held at Gasthof Linsmeier in Iggensbach.

EU Innovation Fund Support, Planning & Land Acquisition
FENECON receives €4.5 million in EU Innovation Fund support, and the KARL Group sells a 12,000 m² plot to FENECON GmbH.
FENECON commissions Hinterschwepfinger Projekt GmbH for project development, integrated planning, and construction.
