The thermal spa Bad Wörishofen stands for sustainable wellness operations, modern infrastructure, and a future-proof, economically efficient energy supply. The project’s objective was to achieve full solar self-sufficiency on sunny days, while seamlessly integrating all energy generation and consumption components into a smart, holistic system.

Results: 

  • Full self-sufficiency on sunny days
  • Electricity generation up to 180% of total demand under full solar condition
  • Significant reduction in grid electricity consumption and optimized self-consumption of solar energy

Conclusion: 

The spa changed from a traditional energy consumer into an intelligently connected, largely self-sufficient energy system, combining photovoltaics, large-scale storage, EV charging infrastructure. Furthermore, the system is designed to seamlessly integrate heat pumps in the future.


By bringing together 1.34 MW of photovoltaic capacity, 3.864 MWh of energy storage, and intelligent system integration, the thermal spa Bad Wörishofen has fundamentally transformed its energy supply.


The project simultaneously increases energy independence, economic efficiency, and sustainability, laying the foundation for a future-proof energy infrastructure.
